The Colonist Unveils New Laneway Beer Garden

Of all the pubs in Norwood, few are beloved as much as The Colonist, the 175-year-old venue known as "The Parade's favourite corner".

Ahead of summer kicking off, The Colonist is excited to announce a new laneway beer garden and a refreshed bistro area.

The historic venue enters a new era with The Garden, a laneway beer garden where locals and visitors can pop in and enjoy a pint while bathing in the natural sunlight of the open-air space.

The Garden is surrounded by greenery and connected to the bistro, making it great sport for those who want to enjoy a bite to eat, a weekend get-together or live music, which plays in the front bar.

The updated bistro provides punters with a warmer, more intimate dining experience with an expanded menu that still includes crowd favourites like Fish & Chips, Chicken Breast Schnitzel and the Scotch Fillet, alongside modern fare like Beef Adobo; a garlic soy braised beef cheek, mashed potato, market greens, fried shallots and fresh chilli. 

"This renovation is really more of an evolution for us here at The Colonist, and we've designed this next stage with our community top of mind," explained Venue Manager Jake Noble. 

"Locals can now come down for a workday lunch or after-work drinks and lighter bites, while enjoying the sunshine in The Garden. It's the same venue that we all know and love, but now it’s ready to support us into the future and for generations to come."

Keen to celebrate the new beer garden and bistro with the regulars, The Colonist is hosting "Local Weekend" from today, Friday 23 to Sunday October 25, with a meat raffle, live music, happy hour specials and giveaways on offer all weekend.

"Former Adelaide Crows legend Mark Ricciuto is also popping by on the Friday night, which we're all really excited about," said Noble.

"We hope to see everyone down there, come and let us know what you think.
