Indian American Stand-Up Zarna Garg Reveals 2027 Australian Tour Dates

Indian American comedian, author and actor Zarna Garg is bringing her hit stand-up show, The Million Dollar Excuses Tour, to Australia this November and December.

Garg's journey into comedy has been an interesting one. She grew up in Mumbai and is now based in New York. After her mother died when she was 14, her father expected her to marry, but she refused and spent two years without a home, living with friends so she could finish school.

Immigrating to the US at 16, she lived with her sister in Ohio, earned a finance degree, and married Shalabh Garg, whom she met online in 1998. She stopped working to raise her three children, who pushed her to write her first screenplay, Rearranged, a comedy about arranged marriage, which won Best Comedy Screenplay at the Austin Film Festival in 2019. She also did her first open mic in a basement in 2018, and her first official set at Carolines on Broadway in February 2019. And the rest, as they say, is history.

The accomplished comedian's Australian tour kicks off with five shows in Sydney, starting with a special performance at the Sydney Opera House on Saturday 21 November, followed by four gigs at the Seymour Centre on Tuesday 24, Wednesday 25, Friday 27 November and Saturday 28 November. Garg then performs at Brisbane's Fortitude Music Hall on Sunday 29 November, two shows at Melbourne's National Theatre on Tuesday 1 and Thursday 3 December and Adelaide's Norwood Concert Hall on Saturday 5 December, wrapping things up at the Palais Theatre in Melbourne on Sunday 6 December.

Garg is now established as a comedian, having released two successful streaming specials – One in a Billion (2023) on Prime Video and Practical People Win (2025) on Hulu – hosted a podcast with her family and released the New York Times bestseller, This American Woman: A One-In-A-Billion Memoir, which was named one of Amazon's Best Books 2025.

With a social media following of over 2 million fans and over 1 billion views, Garg's comedy, which focuses on family, marriage and immigration, has resonated with stand-up fans around the globe.

A proud immigrant woman building her American dream from traditional Indian values, Zarna continues to take audiences along for a wildly funny, unfiltered, and inspiring ride.
