Moonlight Cinema Launches Blockbuster 2026 Summer Program

Moonlight Cinema is back for summer 2026 with a monster program headlined by the hotly anticipated The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping, the latest film in the long-running sci-fi franchise.

A staple of the Australian summer for more than 30 years, Moonlight Cinema once again takes over Adelaide's Botanic Park for a season of outdoor screenings from Thursday 26 November 2026 to Sunday 14 February 2027.

As with every year, the program features a diverse selection of films, with this year's November and December highlights including the psychological thriller Verity, starring Anne Hathaway, Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett; a new adaptation of old favourite Sense and Sensibility with Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles as Elinor and Marianne; The Social Network follow-up The Social Reckoning and dark comedy Wild Horse 9.

Those keen to get into the festive season can catch a selection of Christmas films, with Love Actually, The Polar Express, Home Alone and more screening for two weeks across December

"A night at Moonlight Cinema begins well before the movie. It starts with the journey to one of Australia's most remarkable parklands, finding the perfect spot on the grass, relaxing with friends and family, sharing your favourite treats and watching the sun go down. Then, as night falls, it's time to settle in for a great movie under the stars," says John Boero, General Manager of Entertainment Operations at EVT.

"Moonlight Cinema is all about memorable summer nights, and we’re excited to bring them back for another season."
