The recently renovated Piccadilly is highlighting the best films from the French New Wave.

North Adelaide’s boutique cinema The Piccadilly continues its commitment to showing the best films from around the globe with its upcoming curated French New Wave program.
The folks at The Picadilly have selected eight of the most important films to come out of the French New Wave for viewing on the big screen every Tuesday from October to December.
For those whose film knowledge is lacking, the French New Wave was a movement that came out of France in the late 1950s and rejected the big studio filmmaking practices, with directors exploring new ways to shoot and edit films, along with straying from the standard narrative structure that films of that time followed.
The program kicks off Tuesday 28 October with director Jean-Pierre Melville’s classic film noir crime caper Bob le flambeur (Bob the Gambler), which is often cited as a precursor to the beginning of the French New Wave.
Other influential films on the bill include the drama Cléo de 5 à 7 (Cléo from 5 to 7), Éric Rohmer’s iconic Ma nuit chez Maud (My Night At Maud’s) and absorbing crime drama À bout de souffle (Breathless).

The Piccadilly’s French New Wave program is the cinema’s latest curated lineup of films set to thrill movie fans, following hot on the heels of their romance series Here’s To Love! and crime program Gangster Paradise.
The reveal of The Piccadilly’s French New Wave program comes shortly after the cinema finished its recent refurbishment, resulting in a new boutique cinema experience in cinemas 2 and 3.
These cinemas now feature plush Art Deco seating with deluxe armchairs, two-person sofas and chaise lounges up for grabs. Each seat comes with a lamp and a QR code so you can order food and drink from your seat.
The new menu includes everything from wine, beer and spirits for those who just want a tipple, to share platters, pizza, sliders and even delicious desserts.
The Piccadilly’s French New Wave Program runs from Tuesday 28 October to Tuesday 16 December. Check out the full lineup of films and purchase tickets via wallis.com.au.
