State Opera South Australia is proud to present the sultry production of Mozart’s Così fan tutte (The School for Lovers) at Her Majesty’s Theatre this August and September.
After dazzling audiences in Brisbane, the comic opera makes its way to Adelaide for four performances between August 29 and September 7.
Funny and provocative, Così fan tutte focuses on two couples holidaying at a luxurious Italian resort. The opera revolves around bachelor Don Alfonso who places a bet with his friends Guglielmo and Ferrando that their girlfriends, sisters Fiordiligi and Dorabella, won’t remain faithful during the trip.
Throughout their stay at the resort, the main characters discover the true meaning of love and commitment as themes of lust, jealousy and loyalty are explored during this contemporary take on Mozart’s classic opera.

This latest production of Così fan tutte is conducted by State Opera’s own Artistic Director Dane Lam and directed by Opera Queensland’s Artistic Director Patrick Nolan. The opera also features the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and State Opera Chorus alongside a phenomenal cast of performers.
South Australia’s own Sky Ingram and Nicholas Lester play Fiordiligi and Guglielmo while Anna Dowsley and Kyle Stegall take on the roles of Dorabella and Ferrando. Acclaimed performer Christopher Hillier plays the troublemaking Don Alfonso with Jessica Dean as maid Despina.
