This year marks the 50th birthday of Aussie musician Trent Crawford, best known as a member of One Dollar Short and Something With Numbers.

After realising just how big a milestone it is to reach half a century, Crawford decided to embark on a tour with Not Dollar Short – a high-energy tribute to the pop-punk band One Dollar Short that launched his career nearly 30 years ago.

"There was a moment of feeling like time was running out," Crawford says. "I'd been relearning the songs and playing them acoustically, but I wanted to celebrate them properly — surrounded by mates, out on the road, playing the songs I grew up playing."

Crawford isn't doing it alone, with Joel Attenborough (Irrelevant), Dave McBeath (Something With Numbers) and Michael Dallinger (Frenzal Rhomb) joining him in the band.

The tour begins with shows in the West at Bunbury's Prince of Wales on Thursday 14 January and Perth's Amplifier on Friday 15 January. Crawford and co then head to Lion Arts Factory in Adelaide on Saturday 16 January, followed by gigs at Melbourne's Prince Bandroom on Sunday 17 January, Central Coast's Entrance Leagues on Friday January and Sydney's Metro Social on Saturday 23 January. The tour wraps up with performances at Coolangatta's Balcony At Cooly Hotel on Friday 12 February and Brisbane's Munk and Petal Festival on Saturday 13 February.

Tickets are on sale now at chopdog.com.au.

Growing up on the Central Coast, Crawford cut his teeth with One Dollar Short and Something With Numbers, with both acts garnering a cult fanbase amongst Aussie music lovers, with Something With Numbers' Perfect Distraction considered an Aussie classic.

These days, Crawford often plays solo gigs, performing with acoustic guitar, drum beats and harmonica.

His upcoming run as Not Dollar Short gives longtime fans the chance to go large in the mosh one more time.

Catch Not Dollar Short performing at Lion Arts Factory on Saturday 16 January. Tickets on sale at moshtix.com.au.
