Thom Yorke Announces First Ever Solo Australian & New Zealand Tour
The Radiohead frontman will be performing songs from across his career.

After rumours began swirling The Smile would be touring Australia later this year, it has finally been revealed the band’s frontman, Thom Yorke, is the one making the trip Down Under.
The Radiohead, Atoms for Peace and The Smile band member is playing six shows in Australia and New Zealand this October and November. The dates appeared on the W.A.S.T.E. HQ website over the weekend, with the ‘Everything’ tour featuring Yorke playing songs from across his career. The sad news is Yorke isn’t visiting Adelaide, so fans will have to be prepared to travel interstate to see the great man in action.
“In the autumn in New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Japan I will be alone on stage trying a new kind of solo show thing playing versions of the songs I have written from my recent and not so recent past,” York said in a statement about the upcoming tour.
The tour begins in New Zealand with a show at Wolfbrook Arena in Christchurch on Wednesday, October 23 and another at Spark Arena in Auckland on Friday, August 25. Yorke then makes his way to Australia for the final four dates of the tour, playing two shows in Melbourne at Sidney Myer Music Bowl on Tuesday, August 29 and Wednesday, August 30 and two shows in Sydney at the Opera House on Friday, November 1 and Saturday, November 2.
Tickets go on sale this Wednesday, June 5 at 9:30am local time via W.A.S.T.E. HQ.
As detailed in his short statement about the tour, Yorke will be playing songs from across his four-decade career. Expect to hear Radiohead classics such as ‘Paranoid Android’, ‘Karma Police’ and ‘Fake Plastic Trees’ alongside his solo and soundtrack work, as well as tracks recorded with his other musical projects, The Smile and Atoms for Peace.
While it might not be Radiohead, the chance to catch Yorke solo is a blessing for Australian and New Zealand fans, with the notoriously private musician rarely known to play solo.
