Demand for The Whitlams’ upcoming orchestra tour has resulted in extra shows being announced for Sydney, Newcastle, Brisbane, Adelaide and now Canberra.
The shows the band played in Melbourne at Hamer Hall in September last year were well received by fans and critics, with The Music calling The Whitlams’ orchestral concerts “a tour de force of emotion and classic songs.”
The news of the additional Canberra gig comes less than a week out from the start of the tour this weekend in Sydney, with three performances scheduled at the State Theatre with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra on Friday 30 January and Saturday 31 January (matinee and evening).
The Whitlams then perform alongside the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra at Hobart’s Wrest Point on Friday 27 February, followed by three shows at Brisbane’s QPAC on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 March (matinee and evening) with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
Then it’s on to Newcastle’s Civic Theatre for two concerts on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 March with the Sydney Philharmonic, Adelaide’s Festival Theatre with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra on Friday 12 and Saturday 11 April and Toowoombar’s Empire Theatre on Saturday 6 June alongside the Toowoomba Concert Orchestra, before the tour wraps at Perth’s Riverside Theatre on Saturday 13 June with The Whitlams sharing the stage with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.
Tickets for the remaining shows are on sale now at thewhitlams.com.
