It’s all happening in the world of The Tullamarines. Not only are the rising Adelaide act gearing up for the release of their hotly anticipated EP Safety Blanket, but the group have shared new single ‘Idiot’ and announced a seven-date national tour to boot!
Following previous tracks ‘Running On Empty’ and ‘Lying’, newbie ‘Idiot’ is an introspective tale addressing the loss of friendships as people drift apart in their early 20s.
“‘Idiot’ is about the quiet heartbreak of growing apart from those you once felt inseparable from,” the band shares. “The guilt of unanswered messages and missed milestones can make it feel like an endless battle between ambitions and staying connected. This song delves into the bittersweet reality of losing friendships, not out of conflict, but through distance, self-doubt, and the tunnel vision of trying to get your life together in your 20s. It's for anyone who's looked back after climbing a hill and wished they'd done better for those around them.”
To celebrate both the release of ‘Idiot’ and their upcoming EP, The Tullamarines are embarking on a national tour this October and November, beginning with a gig at Black Bear Lodge in Brisbane on Friday 10 October. The tour then hits Sydney’s Waywards (Saturday 11 October), Adelaide’s Lion Arts Factory (Friday 24 October), Scarborough’s Indian Ocean Hotel (Saturday 25 October), Fremantle’s Mojo’s (Sunday 26 October) and Melbourne’s Northcote Social Club (Thursday 30 October), with the final date on Saturday 1 November at Volta in Ballarat.
Joining The Tullies on their The Safety Blanket EP Tour are Perth indie rockers Ghost Care.
Tickets for all shows are on sale now via thetullamarines.com.au.
Bonding over a shared love of music, Josh, Angus, Benny and Lucinda formed The Tullamarines several years ago and haven’t looked back.
After sharing the singles ‘Loser’ and ‘OMG’ in 2024, with both songs appearing in a host of Spotify and Apple playlists, The Tullies have taken things to the next level in 2025 with the release of ‘Running On Empty’, ‘Lying’ and now ‘Idiot’.
This year the band have already embarked on a 50% sold-out national headline tour and found themselves supporting the likes of Dice, Old Mervs, The Preatures and Ball Park Music.
The release of The Tullies’ Safety Blanket EP ushers in the next chapter of the band and is likely to position them as leaders of the new Aussie indie scene.
