Returning to Australia in March to perform his iconic album A Grand Don’t Come for Free in its entirety, The Streets, aka Mike Skinner, has announced Sydney trio Shady Nasty as his local tour support.
Merging hip hop with hard-hitting dance beats, Slim Nasty, who have a background in jazz and classical music, curate a unique sound that’s hard to define. Counting Fred again.. as a fan, the trio’s highly anticipated 2025 debut album, TREK, was critically acclaimed and has helped push the cult Sydney act into the mainstream.
Slim Nasty will join The Streets on all five stops of the tour, which kicks off with one show in New Zealand at Electric Avenue in Christchurch on Friday 27 February. The tour then heads to Australia for five shows at Adelaide’s Hindley Street Music Hall on Sunday 1 March (sold out), Sydney’s Opera house Forecourt on Wednesday 4 March (sold out), Melbourne’s Palace Foreshore on Thursday 5 March and Brisbane’s South Bank Cultural Forecourt on Friday 6 March, with the final sold out show taking place at Perth’s Fremantle Arts Centre on Sunday 8 March.
Tickets for the Melbourne and Brisbane gigs are on sale now via astralpeople.com.

Released in 2004, A Grand Don’t Come for Free entered the UK charts at #1 (it peaked at #11 on the ARIA Album Chart) and produced the generational hit singles ‘Dry Your Eyes’, ‘Fit But You Know It’ and ‘Blinded By The Lights’.
A concept album centred around a geezer who loses one thousand pounds and his evolving relationship with new partner Simone, A Grand Don’t Come for Free cemented Mike Skinner as a voice of the UK youth in the early 00s.
Performing the album live in full for the first time, Skinner can’t wait to touch down in Australia next month.
“I’ve always loved coming back here with the band, it feels like a home away from home - the crowds are bonkers, they give as good as they get, and this is the first time we’re bringing A Grand Don’t Come for Free to the stage in full,” Skinner says. “Can’t wait to get properly stuck in over in New Zealand and Australia.”
