Melbourne folk duo The Maes have announced a massive Australian tour in support of their upcoming new album, Abreast (pre-order here).
Arriving July 18, The Maes’ fourth studio album is a 12-track modern folk project that includes the singles ‘Hannah’, ‘Come Alive’ and the recently released ‘Enough’.
“We called the album Abreast after we realised we didn’t quite know what that word meant, we googled the definition and found this - Side by side, facing the same way - Oxford English Dictionary,” The Maes posted on Instagram. “This record is a big old mix of feelings, community, hard work, exhaustion, grief, celebration and a huge creative effort from a whole host of our favourite artists.”
Some of the artists who feature on Abreast include Kyrie Anderson, Isaac Gunnoo, Josh Barber and Holly McNamara.
The Maes’ tour in support of the new album takes in a whopping 23 shows across five states and territories, including three South Australian dates.

Weaving personal anecdotes with blissful harmonies on songs about love, life and human connection, The Maes have gained a legion of fans across the globe.
The siblings have played some of the world’s biggest folk festivals, including Woodford and Port Fairy Folk Festivals in Australia, the Edmonton and Vancouver Folk Festivals in Canada, Cambridge Folk and Celtic Connections festivals in the UK and the Telluride Bluegrass Festival in the USA.
