After surprising fans with the release of their first single since 2021 (‘The Silence That Remains’), The Horrors have gifted fans another new tune in the form of ‘Trial By Fire’.
A brooding Halloween treat, the song is the second single from The Horrors’ upcoming sixth album, Night Life. Arriving March 21 2025, via Fiction Records/Virgin Music Group (pre-save here), Night Life is The Horrors’ first record since 2017s V.
Discussing the new song, the band says: “‘Trial By Fire’ is one of the more aggressive songs on Night Life, bridging the gap between our two industrial EPs and the new album.
“Rhys began the demo in Southend isolation, before we got together and twisted it into something meaner. It’s about the curses that follow you through your life. For The Horrors, every day is Halloween.”

The release of Night Life comes as The Horrors celebrate 20 years as a band. Breaking out in 2007 with the release of their debut record Strange House, The Horrors followed with four more albums – Primary Colours (2009), Skying (2011), Luminous (2014) and V (2017) – with each release cracking the UK Album Chart Top 40.
The band have also undergone several personal changes over the past few years, with original members Faris Badwan (vocals) and Rhys Webb (bass) now joined by Amelia Kidd (keys) and Telegram’s Jordan Cook (drums).
The additions of Webb and Kidd come after the departures of Tom Furse and Joseph Spurgeon, with The Horrors now a four-piece.
