Currently on the road touring their new album Easier Said Than Done, which dropped today (October 17), WA rockers The Southern River Band have shared their latest single, ‘One of These Nights (I’ll Be Gone)’.
The final track on their new album was originally written by vocalist and guitarist Cal Kramer back in 2014. Described as “raw, reflective and loaded with soul,” the track highlights Kramer’s songwriting chops and includes a heart-shredding guitar solo Eddie Van Halen would be proud of.
“If you ever need a release valve opened on your tear ducts, give this one a go and report back,” offers Cal Kramer
Easier Said Than Done is 12 tracks of good old-fashioned Aussie rock recorded in Byron Bay with Grammy-winning producer Nick DiDia (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen). The album includes the new single ‘One of These Nights (I’ll Be Gone)’, along with the bluesy ‘All Over Town’ and Bernard Fanning-penned gem ‘No Such Time’.
“I believe in this band above all else and everybody in it. It is a real brotherhood and we’re not chasing fame or anything like that, we are just chasing being the best band that we can be and having the best time that we can have doing it,” adds Kramer.
“It’s a body of work that needs to be listened to as an album, which I think we’re really proud of. You can look at it and say we tried to do this and to my ear that’s what we f**king did.”
The Southern River Band played their first show of their Easier Said Than Done national tour in Melbourne last night and perform at Adelaide’s UniBar on Saturday 18 October. This is followed by shows at Sydney’s Crowbar on Thursday 23 October and Brisbane’s Brightside on Friday 24 October, with their final stop a hometown show at Port Beach Brewery in Fremantle on Saturday 1 November.
