WA rockers Southern River Band have announced the release of their fifth album, Easier Said Than Done. To commemorate the news, the hard-rocking lads have shared new single, ‘No Such Time’, and dropped a bunch of October tour dates to boot.
Written by the band’s new mate Bernard Fanning, ‘No Such Time’ is rip-roaring good fun. The track is Aussie rock with swagger, and the addition of Fanning, who messaged Southern River Band out of the blue to give them props, gives ‘No Such Time’ an extra special flavour.
“It’s not every day you get a message from Bernard Fanning saying ‘G’day boys, got a song for ya’, but we were lucky enough to have that day,” explains vocalist and guitarist Cal Kramer. “We SRB’d it good and proper and we’re absolutely stoked with how it’s turned out (so is he, thank f**k!) and hope you dig it as much as we do!”
New album Easier Said Than Done was recorded earlier this year with Grammy-winning producer Nick DiDia (Pearl Jam, Bruce Springsteen) in Byron Bay. The 12-track LP draws inspiration from some of the biggest names in rock, including Thin Lizzy and AC/DC, with the band putting their own spin on classic ‘70s rock and roll.
Southern River Band’s Easier Said Than Done Aussie tour begins with two concerts in Melbourne at Howler on Thursday 16 October and The Espy on Friday 17 October. The quartet continue with gigs at Adelaide’s Uni Bar on Saturday 18 October, Sydney’s Crowbar on Thursday 23 October and Brisbane’s Brightside on Friday 24 October, with their final stop a hometown show at Port Beach Brewery in Fremantle on Friday 31 October.
Tickets for all shows are on sale now via thesouthernriverband.com.

After more than a decade playing pubs and clubs across the country, Southern River Band are finally getting the plaudits they deserve. One of the hardest-working bands going, the lads have released four studio albums since forming in 2013, including last year’s D.I.Y., their first to enter the ARIA Album Chart.
The band have supported everyone from Aussie rockers Cold Chisel and Rose Tattoo, to international acts such as Eagles Of Death Metal and The Darkness, whose frontman Justin Hawkins, proclaimed the four-piece “a proper f**king rock band.”
Having just completed a hugely successful run of shows across the UK and Europe, Southern River Band can’t wait to hit the road again and perform for their Aussie fans this October.
