Two years on from the release of her juicy third studio album, Sometimes, Forever, indie darling Soccer Mommy returns with new single, ‘Driver’.
Taken from her forthcoming album Evergreen, set for release October 25 via Loma Vista Recordings (pre-order/pre-save here), the track is built around a driving guitar riff and carefree lyrics about love.
Soccer Mommy, real name Sophia Allison, says ‘Driver’ is “more light hearted than some of the other songs I’ve put out this year, using my distractedness as a bit of a punchline.”
The other songs Allison refers to are the previously released singles ‘M’ and ‘Lost’. Evergreen was produced by Ben H. Allen III (Deerhunter, Animal Collective) at Atlanta’s Maze Studios and is an album Allison says is very personal.
“Songwriting has always been Allison’s way to sort through life and ground herself, so – as she crafted this album in the wake of a profound and personal loss – it felt important to keep these songs raw and relatable, unvarnished and honest,” a statement about the album explains.
