Shai Hulud Plot First Australian Tour in 13 years
The tour also sees the return of vocalist Geert van der Velde.

American metalcore veterans Shai Hulud return to Australia in 2026 for the first time in 13 years.
Making their first visit since Soundwave 2013, Shai Hulud are once again fronted by lead vocalist Geert van der Velde, who is back with the band 20 years on since he last performed with them on the band’s sophomore album, That Within My Blood Ill-Tempered.
Van der Velde joins sole original member Matt Fox (guitar, backing vocals) alongside Matt Fletcher (bass), Mark Gumbrecht (guitar) and Moe Watson (drums).
Shai Hulud’s Australian tour begins in Brisbane at The Brightside on Friday 16 January. The band’s tour continues with shows at Sydney’s The Lansdowne on Saturday 17 January, Newcastle’s Hamilton Station Hotel on Sunday 18 January, Hobart’s Altar on Wednesday 21 January, Adelaide’s Ed Castle on Thursday 22 January and Melbourne’s Howler on Friday 23 January, with the final performance coming at the Perth leg of Froth & Fury Festival on Saturday 24 January.

Despite releasing just four albums, Shai Hulud are regarded as pioneers of the early metalcore scene, combining metal with hardcore to create a sound that has influenced dozens of successful bands, including Behind Crimson Eyes, As I Lay Dying, Poison the Well and more.
