Rapper, rocker, multi-instrumentalist and songwriter Ryan Oakes has dropped new single, ‘THIS LIFE OR THE NEXT ONE’.
A nu metal-esque rocker featuring the talents of Point North’s Jon Lundin, the track will please fans of Linkin Park, Melrose Avenue and the like.
“This song is about giving yourself over to something so intense that it almost feels dangerous,” says Ryan Oakes. “It’s about passion, obsession, and that feeling when a connection completely takes over your body and your head. Working with Jon from Point North brought another level of energy to it, and I wanted the track to feel urgent, like you are right in the middle of that chaos.”
‘THIS LIFE OR THE NEXT ONE’ follows the previously released tracks ‘SUPERNATURAL’ featuring MISSIO and ‘SUPERHERO’, and arrives just weeks out from Oakes’ debut Australian tour.
Oakes can’t wait to land in Australia and perform for some of his “biggest supporters”, admitting “a tour has been long overdue.”
“We are going to make sure this is a truly special experience for everybody by including free meet and greets at every single show,” Oakes reveals. “At the end of my set, I’m going to head to the merch booth and shake as many hands and take as many pictures as I can. This is a one-time thing to show the fans how much I truly appreciate them holding me down down under for so many years. Can’t wait to finally meet everyone and give them a show that makes up for the 10 year wait!”
The DIY artist’s tour kicks off at Crowbar in Brisbane on Friday 19 June, before dates at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Saturday 20 June, Sydney’s Oxford Art Factory on Sunday 21 June and Adelaide’s Zhivago on Tuesday 23 June, with the final concert at Perth’s Magent House on Thursday 25 June.
