It’s been a little quiet on the Ruby Fields front of late, but the indie singer-songwriter is back in a big way in 2026, announcing the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album Small Achievements, out Friday 24 April, and a national tour to boot.

Not only is her second album arriving next month, but Fields has also shared new single, ‘Muscle’. Following the release of previous singles ‘92 Purebred’, ‘Half the Laugh’ and ‘Tacklebox’, Fields says the new track “is an ode to my life in the Northern Rivers. The role of fear and of love in community and in the natural environment. I also know we have crocodiles in Australia, but you try rhyming crocodiles with indicators.”

Small Achievements is a snapshot of the last four years of Fields’ life in the Northern Rivers, where she lived through COVID, catastrophic flooding, a relationship breakdown, the passing of a loved one, her band breaking up and more.

On the album title, Fields explains, “Working at the Nudge (Billinudgel Hotel) between touring meant becoming a part of the family and getting to know Sharky – a beloved patron and piece of the furniture. When he received his Hole-in-1 trophy from the local golf course, it was immediately displayed behind the bar.

“To me, that small gesture represents a place that celebrates everyone’s achievements, it doesn’t really matter how big or small they are, just how much they mean to you. So, I want this album to be a reminder to celebrate shit, because we tend to focus on the next big thing without reflecting on how much we’ve already achieved.”

Fields is taking her album on tour across the country in April and May, beginning with a gig at Melbourne’s The Croxton on Friday 24 April. The tour then takes in shows at Sydney’s Manning Bar on Saturday 2 May, Brisbane’s Princess Theatre on Saturday 9 May, Adelaide’s The Gov on Thursday 14 May and Fremantle’s Freo Social on Saturday 16 May.

Support comes from Mac The Knife, Platonic Sex and Smol Fish.
