Ron Sexsmith is one of Canada’s most accomplished artists, and next April the three-time Juno Award winner is touring Australia and New Zealand.
11 years on since his last visit, Sexsmith and his band have announced a run of seven shows in support of his latest album, Hangover Terrace.
Released in August, Hangover Terrace was produced by Martin Terefe (KT Tunstall, YungBlud, Jason Mraz) and marks a departure from Sexsmith’s recent work.
“My last few albums actually had a feeling of rural contentment; Hangover Terrace feels more wounded to me,” says Sexsmith. “There's some self-examination going on and a desire to know who my real friends are. It also deals with the passing of time and how many more things become dear.”
Sexsmith’s Hangover Terrace Australian and New Zealand tour begins at Auckland’s Tuning Fork on Thursday 16 April. Sexsmith then has dates lined up at Sydney’s Recital Hall (Saturday 18 April), Brisbane’s BCEC Plaza Auditorium (Sunday 19 April), Melbourne’s Recital Centre (Thursday 23 April), Castlemaine’s Theatre Royal (Friday 24 April) and Adelaide’s The Gov (Saturday 25 April), with the tour coming to a close at Perth’s Rosemount Hotel on Sunday 26 April.
Tickets go on sale at 11am AEST on Thursday 25 September via davidroywilliams.com.
