Next year marks the 50th anniversary of Port Fairy’s beloved Port Fairy Folk Festival, one of the country’s longest-running festivals.
The festival has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 1977, evolving into a premier folk festival attracting artists from around the globe.
Taking place over the 2027 Labour Day long weekend in Port Fairy, on the coast of South West Victoria, the first lineup of artists has been announced, with international stars including Sixpence None The Richer, Grace Petrie, Alosa, The Burning Hell and Tim Easton joined by local artists such as Mia Dyson, We Mavericks, John Butler and more.
The not-for-profit festival, led by a volunteer committee from the community and a small army of passionate volunteers, is already selling like hot cakes, with a record-breaking number of tickets sold across the first week of release.
Tickets are on sale now via portfairyfolkfestival.com.

Port Fairy Folk Festival Program Director Justin Rudge said the 50th anniversary represented an opportunity to celebrate the people who have shaped the Festival across five remarkable decades.
“Together with the volunteer committee and team, it’s such an honour to be the custodians of an event so beloved to so many,” says Rudge. “This first artist lineup is the Folkie at its best – Artists of the Year, international stars and the cream of local artists. Some coming back for their tenth visit, others on their first voyage to Port Fairy and Australia.
“And it’s just the beginning – we have so much more in store for our amazing audience. It’s a wonderful chance to reflect on the past and nurture the Port Fairy experience for generations to come. This year will truly have something for everyone.”
Port Fairy Folk Festival 2027 takes place at Port Fairy from Friday 5 to Monday 8 March. Lineup, accommodation options and ticketing information are available at portfairyfolkfestival.com.
