‘Time Is A Bomb’ is the second single lifted from Metric’s upcoming tenth studio album, Romanticize The Dive, out 24 April on Thirty Tigers (pre-order here).
A pulsating eargasm about seizing the moment, Metric frontwoman Emily Haines had this to say about the track: “Say what you want about the wellness boom, I think it’s a natural response to the unrelenting awareness we have of our mortality.
“The feeling of wanting to hold on and make time stop while simultaneously doing everything you can to max out your fleeting vitality - this song expresses that inner tension. I love my life and I’m truly amazed that I made it to my happily ever after, but I don't want to spend the time I have left being boring, obsessing over consequences and hiding from fun. I don’t expect to be jumping off speaker stacks or crowd surfing like I used to, but it’s still too soon to say never.”
Romanticize The Dive was recorded in New York City at Electric Lady and saw the Canadian outfit reunited with Fantasies and Synthetica producer Gavin Brown alongside co-producers Jimmy Shaw and Liam O’Neil, and mix engineer John O’Mahoney.

Forming in Toronto in 1998, Metric comprises Emily Haines (vocals, keys), Jimmy Shaw (producer, guitar, keys), Joshua Winstead (bass guitar, keys) and Joules Scott Key (drums).
After close to three decades, Metric are firmly established as indie rock icons, having released nine studio albums, including their critically acclaimed 2009 record Fantasies, which spawned hit singles ‘Help I’m Alive’, ‘Gimmie Sympathy’, ‘Sick Muse’ and ‘Gold Guns Girls’.
The winners of five Juno Awards, Metric have contributed several songs to hugely successful films, with their song ‘Black Sheep’ appearing in the 2010 film adaptation of Scott Pilgrim vs The World and the band co-writing the theme song ‘Eclipse (All Yours)’ for The Twilight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack.
Romanticize The Dive is shaping up to be one of the must-hear albums of 2026, combining nostalgia with modern influences across 11 tracks of indie-electro goodness.
