UK indie legends Maxïmo Park are heading our way in 2026 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of their seminal debut album, A Certain Trigger.
Touring Australia for the first time since 2011, Maxïmo Park will perform tracks from the Mercury Prize-nominated record alongside fan favourites from their expansive catalogue that spans eight albums and 20 electrifying years.
Peaking at #1 on the UK Independent Albums Chart, A Certain Trigger features the hit singles ‘Apply Some Pressure’, ‘Graffiti’ and ‘Going Missing’. The album turned Maxïmo Park into huge stars and was critically acclaimed, with the likes of Pitchfork, NME and The Independent writing glowing reviews about the release.
Lead Singer Paul Smith comments: “Not many bands make it to a twentieth year together so we’re having a big celebration, with a special 20th anniversary tour and by giving a fresh perspective to A Certain Trigger. Our first album remains dear to so many people, and compiling archive material for the reissue has been like entering a time machine - thrilling, but also a bit scary! Happily, we think the music has more than stood the test of time, and the tour, where we'll revisit many of the beloved older songs, will be a joyful experience for both us and our audience.
“Playing live has always been at the heart of what we do, and we still feel the same exhilaration stepping onto the stage as we did in the beginning, but now with even more appreciation of the moment, and the roar of the crowds and we can’t wait to make it back to Australia to celebrate with our friends there.”
Maxïmo Park’s 20th anniversary tour commences at Fremantle’s Freo Social on Thursday 23 April. Dates follow at Melbourne’s 170 Russell on Saturday 25 April, Adelaide’s The Gov on Sunday 26 April, Brisbane’s The Triffid on Wednesday 29 April and Sydney’s Liberty Hall on Thursday 30 April.

Bursting onto the indie rock scene of the early 00s with their critically acclaimed debut album A Certain Trigger, Maxïmo Park are one of the few bands from that era who have continued to release successful albums and sell out tours.
Alongside the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Franz Ferdinand and The Kooks, Maxïmo Park dominated the airwaves when indie music was the be-all and end-all.
The current lineup features vocalist Paul Smith, guitarist Duncan Llyod and drummer Tom English, with the trio’s most recent album being last year’s Stream of Life.
