Irish banjo player and vocalist Maggie Carty is heading to Adelaide as part of her Ebb and Flow: Songlines of the Diaspora album launch tour.
Now based in Melbourne, Carty’s music combines traditional Irish folk with Aussie influences, crafting and lush sound that acts like food for the soul.
Carty’s national tour, which is supported by Culture Ireland, finds the banjo player perfomring in every state and territory, touching down in Adelaide on Friday 15 August at Adelaide House.
She’ll be performing songs from Ebb and Flow, which arrived in June 2025 and contains 14 tracks exploring themes of emigration, identity, and cultural heritage. Carty transforms traditional Irish folk songs with fresh arrangements and her soulful voice, inviting listeners on a personal journey through her Irish heritage and adopted Australian culture.
Tickets for Carty’s Adelaide gig are on sale now via stickytickets.com.au.
A fourth-generation musician originally from Boyle in County Roscommon on Ireland’s west coast, Carty brings a new perspective to traditional Irish folk music.
Since moving to Melbourne in 2017, her musical taste has come to include Aussie folk, Americana and blues, all of which have influenced her debut album, Ebb and Flow.
Well known throughout the Aussie folk community, Carty has performed at some of the country’s biggest festivals, including Port Fairy Folk Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, The National Folk Festival, Illawarra Folk Festival, and CresFest.
The chance to see her in an intimate setting at Adelaide House is one music lovers won’t want to miss.
