It’s happening in the world of Kita Alexander. The Brizzy singer-songwriter has revealed her new album, RAGE, is set for release on Friday 26 June via Warner Music Australia, and that the album’s next single, ‘Tell My Friends’, a collab with Danish singer-songwriter Christopher, is dropping this Friday 24 April. If that’s not enough, Alexander has also announced a world tour that includes shows in Australia, Europe and the UK.
Talking about her upcoming single, the ARIA-nominated artist shares, “Sometimes in anger I find that my girlfriends and myself included all tend to overshare with each other. I think it’s necessary and it’s human nature to share emotions with the people around you, but what we don’t talk about enough is how anger if not processed properly can leave lasting marks and embarrassment in its wake. Situations change and moments pass and sometimes we have to clean up the mess that anger left behind.”
Speaking further on the collaboration, Christopher adds, “The song tells the story of a relationship coming back together, and what it means to reintroduce this person into your life and friendships. It captures the awkward moment when, after all the things you've said to your friends, you end up back with your ex and have to break the news.”
Alexander’s sophomore album draws inspiration from her own lived experiences as she embraces her inner rage to become her true self. Recorded live with organic instrumentation with no synths in sight, the album features collaborations with PJHarding (Noah Cyrus), EhrenEbbage (Lizzie McAlpine and Myles Smith), JamieScott (Major Lazer and Justin Bieber), DanBryer (Niall Horan) and longtime collaborator ShungudzoKuyimba (Teddy Swims and Little Mix).
“Rage has been the catalyst of positive change in my life over the last couple of years,” explains Alexander. “The album is about an emotion I’ve always had but never understood. It’s me looking at it and embracing it as a new friend and realising that I don’t have to shut it down or avoid looking at it. Rage has helped me find what truly matters to me and to change my life in ways that work for me.”
