The metal tours keep on coming, with Swedish death meets doom metal fiends Katatonia announcing they are returning to Australia and New Zealand in 2026.
The tour comes in support of Katatonia’s latest album, Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State, an atmospheric journey into the band’s death/doom sound that incorporates shoegaze and prog melodies.
Katatonia’s tour begins in New Zealand with a one-off show at Auckland’s Powerstation on Sunday 4 October. The heavy metal collective then crosses the Tasman and plays Brisbane’s Crowbar on Wednesday 7 October. This will be followed by dates at Adelaide’s The Gov on Thursday 8 October, Sydney’s Metro Theatre on Friday 9 October, Melbourne’s Northcote Theatre on Saturday 10 October and Perth’s Magnet House on Sunday 11 October.
There will be a limited number of exclusive VIP Meet & Greet tickets available for this tour, which include VIP entry (no need to queue), an exclusive meet and greet with Katatonia, a commemorative VIP laminate, one pre-signed tour poster and a photo with the band on your personal camera.
Pre-sale tickets go on sale at 11am AEDT on Wednesday 19 November, with general on-sale taking place from 11am on Thursday 20 November. Ticketing information is available at davidroywilliams.com and metropolistouring.com.

Forming over 30 years ago, Katatonia are one of Sweden’s biggest heavy metal exports. Throughout their career, Katatonia have dabbled with different sounds and genres, releasing a total of 13 studio albums, including this year’s Nightmares as Extensions of the Waking State.
Katatonia have gone through several lineup changes over the years, with the one constant being vocalist Jonas Renkse. The current iteration features Renske alongside guitarists Nico Elgstrand and Sebastian Svalland, bassist Niklas Sandin and drummer Daniel Moilanen.
The band are super pumped to be back in Oz next year, with tickets sure to sell out fast.
