Today, acclaimed Aussie singer-songwriter Josh Pyke has announced the release of his eighth studio album, Kingdom Within, out Friday 12 June via ADA Music (pre-save here).

Exploring themes of creativity, loss, technology, family and more, the album was produced by longtime Pyke collaborator and ARIA Award winner Chris Collins (Matt Corby, Royal Otis).

Accompanying the release is the album’s first single, the title track ‘Kingdom Within’, where Pyke sings, “With no Kingdom within such a rudderless thing we become.”

Speaking on the single, Pyke explains, “This song is really about reconnecting with your moral core. The ‘Kingdom Within’ I am referring to is our rich internal life. In a world that seems really fraught at the moment and is really fragmented by not only what is going on in the political landscape but also in social media, I think it is more important than ever that we reconnect with what is important to us. This is different for everybody, but for me it’s creativity, art, nature and most important of all, family.”

Pyke is currently halfway through his Feeding the Wolves 20th anniversary regional tour. Performing an incredible 36 intimate shows across Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales, Queensland, Western Australia and the ACT, the tour ends in South Australia at Port Lincoln Brewing Co on Saturday 25 April.

Stripping things back to basics, Pyke has been playing songs from Feeding the Wolves in their rawest form, giving fans the chance to experience favourites like ‘Middle of the Hill’, ‘The Summer’ and ‘The Lighthouse Song’ alongside other hidden gems from his extensive catalogue.

Tickets for the remaining shows are on sale now at joshpyke.com.
