Gearing up for the release of his upcoming new album, the third in his four album 4 Seasons project, John Butler has shared new single ‘Trippin On You’.
Straying from the usual blues and roots flavour of Butler’s previous work, ‘Trippin On You’ has a more radio-friendly vibe, with the singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist serving up a soulful plate of heavenly harmonies paired with a sultry guitar lick.
“This song is about relationships, work and internal narratives,” Butler explains. “I’m struck that ALL good things in my life need work to maintain their goodness. Mental health, marriage, business relationships, a garden, a clean room, trust and reliability, etc. They all need us to turn up. They all deserve our best selves.”
Accompanying the song is a music video directed by Claudia Sangiorgi Dalimore. Shot over a weekend in Tylden, Victoria, the clip brings to life the struggle of a couple’s relationship.

Along with new material, Butler has assembled a new band featuring original John Butler Trio member Michael Barker on drums, alongside Michael Boase on percussion and Ian Peres on bass and keys.
Following a performance at SummerSalt this weekend in Busselton and then at Bluesfest later this month, Butler and his band jetset to the US for an extensive tour, with Australian dates to be announced soon.
