Genesis Owusu continues to drop banger after banger. Following the release of 2025 singles ‘PIRATE RADIO’ and ‘DEATH CULT ZOMBIE’, the Ghanaian-Australian rapper and singer returns with the frantic ‘STAMPEDE’.
Similar in vein to ‘DEATH CULT ZOMBIE’, this one goes from zero to 100 quickly, with Owusu dropping thunderous bars and singing over the driving synth beat. There’s a real urgency to this one, with Owusu recognising the power of community in these uncertain times.
“Left side to the right side, front side to the back,” he says in his latest offering, “we’re all in this together. And there’s a real problem. There are people who have expansive amounts of money, who are intentionally acting to separate us so they can keep getting richer at the expense of general human wellbeing. We’re all under that same thumb and we need to realise that.”
‘STAMPEDE’ is accompanied by a music video directed by Isaac Brown that was filmed in the streets and surroundings of Accra in Ghana.
“This whole project is about humanity and community, not just in Australia, where I live, but globally,” says Owusu. “It felt nourishing to go back to my home country (Ghana) for the first time in 11 years and showcase a bit of the culture there; the youth and the deep subcultures, far beyond the perceptions a lot of people may have of Africa.”

Since the release of his 2021 debut album Smiling With Not Teeth, Genesis Owusu has gained a worldwide fanbase with his genre-defying songs experimenting with funk, rock, punk, rap and dance.
He followed up in 2023 with his sophomore album STRUGGLER, an even bigger hit that debuted at #4 on the ARIA Album Chart and was nominated for seven ARIA Awards, going on to win three, including Album of the Year, and produced the gold singles ‘Good Times’ and ‘WUTD’.
When it comes to performing live, an Owusu show is unlike anything you’ve experienced before. Having supported the likes of Tame Impala, Paramore and Bloc Party and taking to the stage at international festivals including Lollapalooza, Primavera Sound and Boston Calling, along with Aussie fests Splendour in the Grass, Meredith Music Festival and Harvest Rock, Owusu continues to capture people’s attention with his dynamic performances and dance-friendly tunes.
