Cult Portuguese black metal outfit GAEREA announced their first Australian tour earlier this year. Ahead of touching down in July, the band have revealed the national and local support acts who will share the stage with them.
The mysterious five-piece, who wear masks and dress in all black with their distinct sigil occupying the space where their faces should be, craft intense, chaotic music with moments of atmospheric bliss.
Joining GAEREA on all dates bar Perth are technical metal giants Ironstone, whose latest single ‘Handsome Fee’ is a progressive death metal explosion that’s both brutal and beautiful.
Patient Sixty-Seven and Allocer will take to the stage in Perth, with Storm The Crown playing in Adelaide, Ghostseeker performing in Melbourne, The Matador supporting in Brisbane and Lotus Born strutting their stuff in Sydney.
GAEREA’s Australian tour begins in Perth at Amplifier Bar on Tuesday 7 July. They then play Adelaide’s Lion Arts Factory on Thursday 9 July, Melbourne’s Max Watts on Friday 10 July and Brisbane’s Crowbar on Saturday 11 July, with the tour wrapping up at Sydney’s Crowbar on Sunday 12 July.
Tickets are on sale now via oztix.com.au for the Perth, Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane shows, and moshtix.com.au for Adelaide.

Huge in the Portuguese heavy metal scene, GAEREA’s mind-altering sound has evolved from ear-drilling black metal to incorporate a range of sonic landscapes, resulting in a slew of progressive albums from the five-piece influenced by genres such as post-rock, drone metal, metalcore, and more.
GAEREA’s most recent album, Loss, was released in March, with Wall of Sound calling the record “black metal with post-black metal polish” and awarding it a massive 9/10.
Catch GAEREA at Lion Arts Factory on Thursday 9 July. Tickets on sale now at moshtix.com.au.
