Naarm/Melbourne favs Floodlights return with new single ‘Can You Feel It’, the band’s first release of 2024.
Produced by Dan Luscombe (Courtney Barnett, Amyl and the Sniffers) and mixed by Grammy Award-winning John Congleton, ‘Can You Feel It’ is everything you want from a Floodlights tune, with Louis Parsons’ familiar twang powering the indie pub rock wonder towards an explosive climax.
Speaking about the track, the band says: “‘Can You Feel It’ began as an idea in Naarm/Melbourne and was shaped into a song in London. The lyrics were written in a quick burst, in one of those moments where words pour out - releasing a bottled up feeling of anticipation, excitement and fear - an act of catharsis, much like the song itself. It quickly became a key element of our live set as we toured the UK/EU over three months in 2023.”
Accompanying the single is a music video directed by Ava Clifforth and Henry Gosper that’s a mesmerising visual treat. You can check it out below.

Floodlights are also pumped to announce they have signed with famed label PIAS. Speaking about the signing, Mari Stuart, Label Group Director at [PIAS] Australia says: “We’re so excited to welcome Floodlights to the [PIAS] family. Floodlights are one of those rare bands that you can’t help but fall in love with on first listen, and are up there as one of Australia’s greatest live acts. Our local label team have all been massive fans of Floodlights for a while now and we can’t wait to share their incredible music with the world through [PIAS]’s global network.”
The addition of Floodlights to PIAS’ roster comes a year after the release of the band’s 2023 sophomore album, Painting of My Time. Recorded by bandmates Parsons, Ashlee Kehoe, Archie Shannon, Joe Draffen and Sarah Hellyer, the album was a finalist for the Australian Music Prize and well received by music critics and fans.
Having performed at Laneway Festival, Meredith Music Festival, SXSW Austin and supported the likes of The Killers, Amyl & The Sniffers and Pavement, Floodlights are ready to hit the road again, announcing a stack of dates across October, kicking off today at King St in Newcastle.
Sadly the band won’t be making their way to SA as part of this current tour before heading off overseas across the UK and Europe in November.
