Everlast Shares New Single 'Peace of Mind'

Just over a month until the release of Everlast's first album in eight years, Embers to Ashes, out Friday 28 August on Everlast’s own Martyr Inc Records, in partnership with Thirty Tigers and Regime Music Group, the Irish-American rapper, singer and songwriter has shared new single, 'Peace of Mind'.

Embers to Ashes was produced by Yelawolf and mixed by Chris Lord-Alge, with cover art by award-winning Tristan Eaton. The album features 17 tracks and is the follow-up to Everlast's 2018 record, Whitey Ford's House of Pain.

Following the release of previous singles 'Stones', 'My Hollywood' and 'Losing Man's Game', this latest taste of Everlast's new album finds the Grammy winner addressing themes of redemption, self-awareness and the search for meaning over a funky guitar riff and handclaps.

Nashville songwriter D-Ray, who worked with Jelly Roll on 'Son of a Sinner' and 'Dead Man Walking', had this to say about the track, “Yela and Erik (Everlast) had the concept for the song. I had just walked outside to smoke, and by the time they made it to me, Yela already had a percussion vibe and melody, while Erik was starting on the verse one lyrics. The song wrote itself because I feel like we’d all seen people take what they thought was a shortcut to success, or to true peace in general, and we all related to that so much. The song is a story not only about being yourself, but also trusting what you’re capable of...forgiving and countering hate with love, without regret."

The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Ryen McPherson that features graffiti pioneer RISK.

Everlast has been a focal point in music history for more than three decades. Breaking through in 1992 with 'Jump Around', a song released by his old group House of Pain, Everlast was everywhere in the late '90s when his sophomore solo album, Whitey Ford Sings the Blues, topped the US Heatseekers Albums Chart, producing the worldwide smash 'What It's Like'.

The New Yorker has released a total of nine studio albums, won a Grammy for his Santana collaboration 'Put Your Lights On' and performed all across the globe.

Embers to Ashes signifies a new beginning for Everlast, with the artist calling the record "a collection of songs that revolve around my last decade, not necessarily autobiographical but ‘inspired by’ the chaos, losses and a few wins."
