Ensiferum Announce ‘Winter Storm Over Australia’ Tour 2026
The folk metal act are celebrating the release of their new album Winter Storm and 30 years as a group.

Finnish folk metal icons Ensiferum have revealed they are returning to Australia in 2026 for a run of six shows.
Last here in 2019 as part of their Two Paths World Tour, the self-labelled “melodic folk metal” brutes Winter Storm Over Australia Tour comes in support of their ninth studio album, Winter Storm, and the band’s 30th anniversary.
Released in 2024, Winter Storm includes the singles ‘Winter Storm Vigilantes’, ‘Long Cold Winter of Sorrow and Strife’, ‘Fatherland’, ‘The Howl’ and ‘Victorious’, with Metal-Roos calling it a “stunning album of folk, thrash, traditional and melodic death metal.”
Ensiferum’s 2026 Winter Storm Over Australia Tour touches down in Perth at Amplifier on Tuesday 26 May, with dates following at Adelaide’s Lion Arts Factory on Wednesday 27 May, Sydney’s Crowbar on Thursday 28 May, Melbourne’s Corner Hotel on Friday 29 May, Brisbane’s Backroom on Saturday 30 May and Canberra’s The Baso on Sunday 31 May.

Since coming together in 1995, Ensiferum have released music at a prolific rate, with their eighth studio album, Thalassic, establishing them as Finnish leaders of the metal folk scene.
The album topped Finland's album charts, reached #3 in Germany and made the top ten in Switzerland, Canada and the USA. The success of Thalassic led to two massive world tours and festival appearances at Wacken, Hellfest, Summer Breeze and Ragnarök.
Having gone through several lineup changes over the years, the current collection of musicians (Markus Toivonen, Petri Lindroos, Sami Hinkka, Janne Parviainen and Pekka Montin) is excited to be back on the road celebrating the band’s 30th anniversary and new album.
