After nearly four years in the music wilderness, Ecca Vandal made her surprise return this week with a 30-second new music teaser.
Taking to her newly launched Instagram account, the genre-defying artist posted a short clip of her performing a hectic punk tune. Opening with a voiceover, things go next level as Vandal sings/screams over headbanging instrumentation reminiscent of 90s punk tunes.
The final five seconds of the clip cut to a blurry image of Vandal backed by a pulsating electro beat that ends with Vandal saying “Click clack.”
Accompanying the post are the captions “TIME TO GO OUT ON MY OWN” and “DANCE IN DEBT”, which could refer to song or album titles. Check out the short teaser of the song below.
According to The Music, the original post was also accompanied by a short message explaining where Vandal has been, which you can read below:
“Helloooo wonderful people! So yeah, it’s been a minute, been offline for a couple of years actually!!! Basically it was for my head, my heart, my health [and] art. Had to leave the building to live in the moment and let myself play like a big kid again!!!” Vandal explained.
“Went deep in the cave to create and it’s been a [truly] beautiful time. The reset I needed to find the things I love about writing music again, but more about all that later on... For now I just want to say a big thank you to all of you who’ve been chillin’ and waiting for new tunes. It feels pretty nervy and wild to step outside again but I’m grateful for you all and just super excited to share some new music with you. Thanks [so much] for coming on the ride with me.”
The Music also reported that Vandal will be back with more music soon. Fingers crossed this means an album is on the way later this year.
