Beloved singer-songwriter Cat Power is heading our way for a special run of shows performing songs from her seminal album The Greatest.
Released 20 years ago, the album was Cat Power’s first to feature no cover songs. It was universally praised and went on to win the 2006 Shortlist Music Prize.
Power is taking the record on the road this November and December, performing The Greatest in full alongside songs from her three-decade back catalogue.
Cat Power’s The Greatest Tour kicks off with two concerts in New Zealand at Auckland’s Bruce Mason on Thursday 26 November and Wellington’s The Opera House on Friday 27 November.
The tour then heads to Australian shores for seven shows, kicking off on Monday 30 November at The Tivoli in Brisbane. Shows follow at Costa Hall in Geelong on Wednesday 2 December, Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne on Thursday 3 December, Hindley Street Music Hall in Adelaide on Saturday 5 December, Sydney Opera House in Sydney on Monday 7 December and Canberra Theatre Centre in Canberra on Wednesday 9 December, with the final gig at Perth’s Astor Theatre on Friday 11 December.

An icon whose songs have defined a generation of music lovers, Cat Power’s 30-year career includes 11 studio albums, the most recent being 2022’s Covers, millions of streams and an ever-evolving sound that’s captured people’s imagination.
The Greatest remains one of Power’s most loved works, “drifting through heartbreak, survival, longing and grace with the kind of restraint that only makes the emotional weight hit harder.”
To mark the milestone of this soul-soaked classic, Power is releasing a 20th anniversary edition of The Greatest that will be reissued on Friday 10 July via Matador Records featuring a limited-edition re-print of the album’s original pink foil cover art, as well as pink vinyl.
Catch Cat Power at Hindley Street Music Hall on Saturday 5 December. Ticketing information is available at lovepolice.com.au.
