Budjerah Shares New Single ‘Could I Be’
The track is taken from the emerging artist’s upcoming debut album, Gentleman.

After a fairly quiet couple of years spent touring and honing his songwriting craft, emerging New South Wales artist Budjerah has announced the release of his long-awaited debut album, Gentleman.
Out Friday 24 July via Warner Music Australia, Budjerah has already released the title track and single ‘Want You Back’, and this week shared the album’s latest single ‘Could I Be’.
A throwback to early 2000’s era R&B, it’s hard not to smile listening to this one, with Budjerah’s velvet falsetto perfectly suited to the uptempo beat.
“‘Could I Be’ is about when you realise that you’re falling in love,” explains Budjerah. “Love can be unexpected and sudden. It’s a fun uptempo track with lots of sweet falsettos and high notes. There’s some inspiration from 70s R&B and soul music, stuff that my family would play often when I was little.”
Gentleman was produced by Om’Mas Keith and captures the artist Budjerah has become, with nods to the music he listened to during his youth.
Of the album, Budjerah says, “Gentleman is my debut album and it’s inspired by who I wanted to be when I was growing up. This album was almost a four-year process for me. Between my life at home and life on the road, I experienced so much change and growth. Chasing my dreams, I faced new challenges which helped me understand who I wanted to be. Every song on this album holds a piece of me. I hope little Budjerah is proud.”

Since the release of his 2000 debut single ‘Missing You’, Budjerah has amassed an incredible 60 million combined career streams, achieved Platinum status for his 2023 single ‘Therapy’ and won two ARIA Awards (Breakthrough Artist in 2021 and Best Soul/R&B Release in 2022).
2022 saw Budjerah named GQ Australia's Breakthrough Artist, and just a year later, he was opening for Ed Sheeran on his sold-out Aussie tour.
Since 2024, Budjerah has embarked on a national headline tour, performed at the 2024 Aria Awards with Cyril and Becca Hatch, taken to the stage at the 2024 and 2025 Carols In The Domain and opened for Jacob Banks in Brisbane.
