After a one-year hiatus, the Birdsville Big Red Bash is set to return to the Simpson Desert next year.
Held 35km west of Birdsville in the heart of the desert near the SA and QLD border from July 7-9, the Big Red Bash has secured a stellar lineup of Australian artists headlined by recent ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Missy Higgins.
“We’re stoked to be bringing back the full Birdsville Big Red Bash after taking a breather this year. Our team are recharged and ready to give festival-goers an unforgettable outback adventure,” says Greg Donovan, Bash event founder/owner and Managing Director of the Outback Music Festival Group
Missy Higgins is looking forward to headlining the Big Red Bash’s return, and said, “My band and I absolutely love playing in the desert for The Big Red Bash. Surrounded by giant sand dunes and people having travelled miles in their dusty caravans to get there… It’s so unique and so Australian. There is an incredible line-up set for 2026, and we’re all thrilled to be invited back to play again.”
The ‘Scar’ hitmaker will be joined by rock legends Hoodoo Gurus, soulful folk act The Teskey Brothers, punk rockers The Living End, Perth rock outfit Birds of Tokyo, singer-songwriter Jessica Mauboy and cultural icon Shannon Noll.
Also appearing are Aussie greats Kate Cebrano, Ross Wilson and Shane Howard, ‘90s act The Whitlams, New Zealand favourite Tim Finn and country star Troy Cassar-Daley and his daughter Jem Cassar-Daley.
There will be a ‘50 Years of Fleetwood Mac’ tribute along with sets from Chocolate Starfish Furnace and the Fundamentals, Wes Carr, Tom Busby and Gypsy Lee.
Tickets go on sale Thursday 23 October at 10am AEST via bigredbash.com.au.

The Birdsville Big Red Bash has been around for over a decade, with the first festival taking place in 2013 as a one-off concert headlined by John Williams at the base of the Big Red sand dune in the Simpson Desert.
The original concert was a thank you to the volunteers who helped out during the Big Red Run ultramarathon, and over the years has evolved into a unique festival experience in the heart of Australia.
The festival has attracted the biggest and best Aussie artists, with the last event in 2023 featuring the likes of ICEHOUSE, Human Nature, Pete Murray, The Angels, and The Waifs.
Birdsville Big Red Bash is held at the Big Red sand dune, 35km west of Birdsville, from Tuesday 7 July to Thursday 9 July, 2026. For full ticketing and lineup information, visit bigredbash.com.au.
