Australia’s favourite outdoor cinema celebrates 30 years under the stars with an eclectic selection of flicks and, for the first time, The People’s Program, a nationwide vote that will shape this season’s line-up.
Since its inception in 1995 with a screening of Quentin Tarantino’s classic Pulp Fiction, Moonlight Cinema has been an ever-present on the summer festival calendar, with more than 5 million people attending across the past three decades.
As part of the 30th birthday celebrations, organisers are giving audiences the chance to choose the films to be screened, with a nationwide vote being conducted as part of The People’s Program.
A specially curated list of films that includes The Castle, Dirty Dancing, 28 Days Later and Jurassic Park, can be voted for now at moonlight.com.au. Those who vote will receive a 30% discount on general admission tickets to The People’s Program sessions and go into the draw to win a double season pass. Voting closes on Monday 15 December.
“For three decades, Moonlight Cinema has been a quintessential summer ritual for millions of Australians,” says John Boero, General Manager of Entertainment Operations, EVT. “To mark this milestone, we wanted to do something special for the audiences who’ve made us part of their summer traditions. The People’s Program gives fans the chance to help shape the season and enjoy their most-loved films - under the stars, where Moonlight magic happens.”
