It’s that time of the year again when triple j announces the Unearthed High Finalists of the year.
Since its inception in 2007, the national comp has helped Aussie acts go from the bedroom to stages across the country and is responsible for launching the careers of some of our biggest stars, including The Kid LAROI, Genesis Owusu, The Rions, Gretta Ray and Teenage Joans.
This year’s five finalists represent the diverse landscape of the Australian music scene, with each artist set to be spotlighted by triple j over the coming weeks.
Leading the charge is 14-year-old Sunshine Coast-based singer, songwriter and producer Alli Kate. Influenced by hip hop, she’s already scored co-signs from SIA, YNG Martyr and The Kid Laroi, with the future looking very rosy for Kate.
Next up is Melbourne-based artist Lithu. A lover of hip hop, R&B and big beats, he’s earned rave reviews for his track ‘ride or die’, which features the vocal talents of 719023 and ashvs. Entering the comp for the first time this year, he’s already making waves and shapes as one to keep an eye on in the world of Aussie rap.
