Vacations Drop Fourth Album 'Pursuit of Anything'

Indie rockers Vacations have shared new single 'Lucky, Forever' to coincide with the release of their long-awaited fourth studio album, Pursuit of Anything, out now via Nettwerk.

Written by vocalist Campbell Burns, bassist Jake Johnson, guitarist Nate Delizzotti and drummer Joseph Van Lier, who form Vacations, the record draws on the band's experiences and journey from Newcastle, Australia, to Los Angeles and New York.

Mixed by Beatriz Artola (Geese, Caamp), Burns' lyrics look inwards across the album's 10 tracks as he reflects on the past, the present and the future.

"It's about happiness as a feedback loop," says Burns of the record's title. "How you keep chasing the next thing.”

Focus single 'Lucky, Forever' is a gorgeous love song Burns says is "me trying to write the most clichéd love song that I can while trying to be really earnest."

It was directly inspired by the weddings of bandmates Johnson and Van Lier.

"I wanted to write a song from their perspective," he recalls. 'I don't really write love songs, and as a subject it's been incredibly overdone. But it was really refreshing to just write something that was so simple when it came to the intention."

Not only do they have a new album out in the world, but Vacations have launched a game and interactive app called The Pursuit created by Lee Martin.

Acting as a companion piece to the record, the game is inspired by the nostalgic feel of the iPhone OS 3.

Dive into the app, and you'll find The Pursuit endless runner game (featuring an 8-bit remix of the song 'Holy Grail'), a green checker camera filter and anonymous voicemail messages from fans on the Pursuit Hotline (call 1-346-PURSUIT now to leave your own).

The quartet have also announced a North American tour, which will hopefully extend to Australia next year.

Vacations Pursuit of Anything is out now via Nettwerk. Buy/listen to the album here.
