Hilltop Hoods Honoured With Their Own Adelaide Laneway
City of Adelaide has renamed Clubhouse Lane off Hindley Street to Hilltop Hoods Lane.

South Australian hip hop legends Hilltop Hoods have been honoured with their own Adelaide laneway today, with Clubhouse Lane now known as Hilltop Hoods Lane.
Located in the heart of Adelaide's vibrant West End off Hindley Street, the name change was officially unveiled today by Lord Mayor Dr Jane Lomax-Smith at a special event honouring the Hoods.
The trio of Suffa (Matthew David Lambert), Pressure (Daniel Howe Smith) and DJ Debris (Barry John M. Francis) are the sixth artists to receive this honour, following music legends Sia Furler, Cold Chisel, No Fixed Address, Paul Kelly and The Angels.
Lord Mayor Dr Jane Lomax-Smith said Hilltop Hoods' enduring impact on Australian music and culture made them a worthy addition to Adelaide's City of Music Laneways.
"Once considered the Australian music industry's underdogs, the Hoods have harnessed their talent and determination to not only top the charts but build a multi-generational fan base in their mosh pits," the Lord Mayor said.
"Despite their global success, they have never forgotten their Adelaide roots. That’s why it’s fabulous to permanently recognise their achievements on the streets of the city - just a short walk from the venues where they started making music three decades ago."
Hilltop Hoods Lane also features two large-scale murals by renowned Adelaide artist Vans the Omega and is a tribute to one of SA's most successful exports, with the Hoods' career spanning nine studio albums, including seven #1 ARIA Albums, 108 Platinum accreditations, 20 Gold accreditations and a slew of anthems, including 'The Nosebleed Section', 'I Love It', 'Leave Me Lonely', 'Cosby Sweater' and 'Exit Sign', 'City of Light' and '1955'.
Speaking on the murals, Vans the Omega wanted to celebrate the group's career and legacy.
"Few music acts are as deeply woven into the cultural fabric of South Australia as Hilltop Hoods," said Vans the Omega.
"Their music has touched countless lives and hearts, and I wanted this artwork to honour that connection by resonating with devoted fans and the wider public alike. This work aims to be both uplifting and historic, offering a place to reflect on our own lives and the journey we have shared alongside music that has shaped generations of fans of all ages. Like the Hoods, these walls stand as a lasting testament to what can be achieved through hard work and determination in our beautiful, humble city of Adelaide."
As for the Hoods, all three are stoked with the honour of having a laneway named after them.
Pressure said the opening of Hilltop Hoods Lane "is an absolute honour" and "also somewhat surreal."
"We paid our dues performing in and around these streets; teenage me would have never dreamed one of them would be named after us."
Suffa added that the Hilltop Hoods "love Adelaide" and that "this gesture just connects us even further to the place that we call home."
DJ Debris said it was "an incredible honour" to open Hilltop Hoods Lane. "Adelaide has always been a huge part of who we are and where our music comes from, so having a laneway in the heart of the city named after us is an incredible honour. It's pretty special to think our name will now be part of Adelaide’s streetscape."

Hilltop Hoods were also presented with a music plaque celebrating their single '1955' feat. Montaigne & Tom Thum for surpassing more than 1 million ARIA single sales and achieving 14 x Platinum, by President and CEO of Universal Music, Sean Warner.
"As pioneers whose impact reaches well past the boundaries of Australian hip hop, Hilltop Hoods have left a permanent footprint on our national culture. I am deeply proud of Universal Music Australia’s partnership and to share in this historic moment," said Warner.
Island Records Australia Managing Director, Nicole Richards, said, "From record-breaking chart dominance to sold-out arenas, Hilltop Hoods keep raising the bar. Island Records Australia is immensely proud to be the group’s label home and congratulates them on yet another extraordinary milestone."
Rising from underground hip hop newcomers to kings of the Australian scene, Hilltop Hoods are fully deserving of this accolade, and we are excited to see where they go from here.
