The Linda Lindas are gearing up for the release of their sophomore album No Obligation which is set for release on October 11 via Epitaph.
Along with announcing their new LP, the quartet has shared first single, ‘All In My Head’, a fun slice of garage rock accompanied by a music video directed by James Wyatt.
“Recording it was really fun, full of lots of dancing in the studio,” band member Lucia de la Garza said in a statement. “I wrote ‘All In My Head,’ from the perspective of a book character, which kinda brought us out of our comfort zone,” she added, referencing the lead character in My Year of Rest And Relaxation. “It felt like a break from reality, which we don’t usually find ourselves writing about.”
You can give ‘All In My Head’ a listen below.
Comprising sisters Lucia (guitar) and Mila de la Garza (drums), their cousin Eloise Wong (bass), and family friend Bela Salazar (guitar), The Linda Lindas formed in 2018.
The band broke through in 2021 when their performance of ‘Racist, Sexist Boy’ during an event at the Los Angeles Public Library went viral. They followed this with the release of their debut LP Growing Up in 2022.
Spawning the singles ‘Oh!’, ‘Nino’, ‘Growing Up’ and ‘Talking to Myself’, the album was universally praised by music critics, with Pitchfork’s Quinn Moreland calling the album “heartwarming pop-punk with ample charm” and awarding it 8/10.
