Following in the footsteps of UK act Oasis, queer pop group Scissor Sisters are getting the band back together.
After going on an indefinite hiatus in 2012, Scissor Sisters are making a comeback in 2025, locking in ten live dates across the UK and Northern Ireland. Jake Shears, Babydaddy and Del Marquis are all returning, but sadly singer Ana Matronic isn’t part of the reunion due to other commitments, namely her podcast Good Time Sallies.
Scissor Sisters tour, which includes stops in Nottingham, Glasgow, Bournemouth, Cardiff, Manchester, London, Leeds, Birmingham, Belfast and Dublin, coincides with the 20th anniversary of the band’s self-titled debut album.
In a press release announcing the tour, Shears says: “It’s the 20th anniversary of our debut album, so it really feels like the right time to revisit all the intense excitement of that moment. I think the impetus for this reunion was really a YouTube screening of Scissor Sisters: Live at The O2 that happened during lockdown. I don't think I'd seen that show since it was filmed in 2007, but we were all kind of surprised by how great it was. And chatting with fans during the screening really brought back what a special moment it was for all of us.”
Babydaddy adds: “There’s something really special about us being a gay band, a queer band, who really pushed into the mainstream with that album. We want to revisit that because there weren’t as many queer acts breaking through in that way 20 years ago. We do acknowledge that we did something pretty unique back then just by putting ourselves out there as queer people. We put queer culture in the mainstream at a time when there wasn’t much of it there.”
Tickets for Scissor Sisters reunion shows go on Friday, November 8 at 7:30pm local time via Ticketmaster.

Founded in the year 2000, Scissor Sisters released their universally praised self-titled debut album in 2004. Topping the UK Album Chart and peaking at #7 on the ARIA Album Chart, Scissor Sisters spawned hit singles ‘Laura’, ‘Take Your Mama’, ‘Mary’ and ‘Filthy/Gorgeous’, along with the Pink Floyd cover ‘Comfortably Numb’.
Scissor Sisters would go on to release three more albums – Ta-Dah (2006), Night Work (2010) and Magic Hour (2012) – before calling it quits. Shears struck out on his own and released two albums, the most recent being 2023s Last Man Dancing.
