SKY FERREIRA, MOS DEF, FEVER RAY AND MORE ANNOUNCED FOR RISING FESTIVAL 2024

This year’s RISING Festival takes place between June 1 and June 16 around Melbourne.

Melbourne’s Vivid LIVE alternative, RISING Festival, has released its June program and it’s an absolute delight. Headlining the event are several awesome local and international artists who will play venues throughout Melbourne. There will also be many cultural events happening over the festival’s 16 days, taking place from June 1 to June 16. This year’s program includes 105 events featuring 480 artists, with something for everyone.
One of the big drawcards for Melbourne music fans is the return of The Dirty Three. The Warren Ellis led act will be taking to the stage in their hometown for the first time in 12 years, playing two nights at Melbourne’s Hamer Hall.
Hip-hop superstar Yasiin Bey, better known as Mos Def, is playing two shows at RISING this year. Similar to his VIVID schedule, his first show will see the rapper performing his 2009 classic, The Ecstatic, in its entirety at the Port Melbourne Industrial Centre for the Arts. He will then play the Day Tripper event, paying tribute to his dear friend MF DOOM by performing some of his iconic tracks.
Fever Ray, the moniker of The Knife’s Karin Dreijer, brings her unique electronic soundscapes to RISING Festival for her first-ever Australian shows. Fans can expect a weird and wonderful performance from the Swedish artist.
Playing their first-ever headline show in Melbourne, Mt Druitt's ONEFOUR will no doubt draw a large crowd to their Festival Hall gig. Despite being surrounded by controversy, the drill group have taken the Aussie hip-hop community by storm and are all talented MCs whose lyrics seem to resonate with their fans.
American indie pop singer Sky Ferriera is also making the trip to Australia, her first time in over a decade. An artist who has faced many challenges over her career and who rarely performs live, tickets for her show at the Forum are sure to sell quickly.
The RISING Festival 2024 lineup also includes the likes of 79-year-old Brazilian composer Arthur Verocai, dynamic performer Yves Tumor, Swedish soul sensation Snoh Aalegra and indie act Blonde Redhead. There
“Some of the most exciting voices in art, music and performance offer moments of catharsis and reflection with mass music making in a church or summoning the cosmos in our town square,” RISING artistic directors Hannah Fox and Gideon Obarzanek said in a press statement about the event and impact music has on people. “The most important part is coming together to be thrilled, bemused, shaken or delighted.”
RISING happens across Melbourne from Saturday 1 June to Sunday 16. Tickets are on sale from 11:30 am local time today via rising.melbourne, where you can also find details about all the musical acts and events staged during the festival.
