Good and bad news from the Northlane camp this week, with the band sharing visceral new single 'Deathwish' but announcing their seventh album Anemoia will now be released on Friday 27 November following production delays.

The fourth single taken from their upcoming new LP is a blistering synth-infused metalcore explosion of aggresive beats and distorted vocals about selfishness.

"A companion song to 'Crucified', but where that song surveys the landscape, 'Deathwish' zooms in on the individual. It's written from the first-person perspective of someone who is entirely unwilling to listen - convinced of their own reality, blind to anyone else's. I'm the centre of the universe / I'm blind to what you need," explains singer Marcus Bridge.

"The lyrics aren't self-referential, but it communicates an understanding of the psychology well enough to inhabit it, and the chorus turns the lens slightly inward: am I the one that's cursed? I know it's all I've come to be."

Sadly, that's not the only negative, with Northlane revealing the need to reschedule their Australia and New Zealand tour to May 2027 because guitarist Josh Smith requires immediate treatment for worsening chronic health issues. New dates will be released soon, with the band releasing this statement about Anemoia being pushed back and rescheduling the tour.

"An important update from Northlane regarding Anemoia, our Australia & New Zealand tour, Melbourne Listening Party and our new single 'Deathwish'.
"Due to production delays, the release of Anemoia is moving to November 27, 2026.
"Alongside the album delay, Josh has been dealing with significant, rapidly worsening chronic health issues over the past two years and now requires immediate intervention which will prevent him from travelling or performing. With his health and rehabilitation a priority, alongside the delayed release of the record, we have made the difficult decision to reschedule our Australia & New Zealand tour to May 2027.
"All existing tickets will remain valid for the rescheduled May 2027 dates, which we'll announce very soon.
"Additionally, we have moved our Melbourne Listening Party to November 20. This means attendees will be the first in the world to hear Anemoia in full. All tickets remain valid.
"These decisions have been incredibly tough to make. Delivering the full experience to you matters to us, and we don’t take decisions like this lightly. We recognise the impact these changes may have on those who’ve made plans around the original dates, and we appreciate your patience and understanding.
"To be clear, our UK/EU tour with Dayseeker later this year and our North American headline tour early next year will both go ahead as planned.
"As a thank you for your continued support, we’re releasing our new single, 'Deathwish', ahead of schedule."

While this is upsetting news for fans, our thoughts go out to Smith, and we hope he recovers soon and can rejoin the band on the road.

Northlane's Anemoia drops Friday 27 November via Independent/Immortal Music Group. Pre-order here. Northlane are rescheduling their Australian and New Zealand tour until next year, with dates to be announced soon.
