Men Without Hats Plot Australian Tour 2027

Canadian new wave outfit Men Without Hats are heading to Australian shores for the very first time in 2027.

Best known for their 1982 hit 'The Safety Dance' (you know, the one that goes "We can dance if we want to / We can leave your friends behind"), Men Without Hats are bringing their extensive back catalogue down under next year, led by founding member and songwriter Ivan Doroschuk.

The current live line-up of Doroschuk on vocals, Sahara Sloan on keyboards and vocals, Sho Murray on guitar and veteran drummer Adrian White will not only play '80s anthems such as 'The Safety Dance' and 'Pop Goes The World', but also tracks from their 2025 album On The Moon, which was produced with Grammy and Juno Award-winning producer Brian Howes (Simple Plan, Puddle of Mudd).

Men Without Hats begin their tour of Australia at Newcastle's King Street Band Room on Wednesday 26 May. The tour then hits Sydney's Factory Theatre on Thursday 27 May, followed by The Gov in Adelaide on Friday 28 May and Max Watts in Melbourne on Saturday 29 May. The tour wraps up with shows in Brisbane at The Triffid on Sunday 30 May and Perth's Rosemount Hotel on Tuesday 1 June.

Formed by Ivan Doroschuk in Montreal in 1978, Men Without Hats evolved from a punk band to leaders of the new wave in the early '80s, with Ivan's brother, Colin Doroschuk, a key member throughout those earlier years alongside a revolving door of talented musos.

With nine albums in their back pocket, Men Without Hats had two mega hits, with 1983's 'The Safety Dance' making it to #5 on the Australian Singles Chart (then the Kent Music Report), #3 in the United States and #2 in New Zealand and 1987's 'Pop Goes The World' going all the way to the top of the Austrian Singles Chart and finding new life as a football chant during UEFA Euro 2024.

Inducted into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2020, the current version of Men Without Hats includes Colin’s daughter Sahara Sloan, bringing a new generation into the Men Without Hats story.
