As the talk continues about who should play 007 in the new James Bond film, the upcoming video game adaptation, First Light, has revealed the game’s theme song, sung by the ethereal Lana Del Rey.

‘First Light’ is the official theme to IO Interactive's James Bond video game of the same name. Written with Bond composer David Arnold, whose credits include Casino Royale and Tomorrow Never Dies, ‘First Light’ is similar to early Bond themes, with Rey’s smokey vocals pairing beautifully with the brass instrumentation.

Taking to Instagram to announce the song, Rey posted the lyrics “Can’t say I’m surprised to see you running towards the sun…like a moth to a flame,” while also revealing she is excited for the new game, which is a Bond origin story.

From the brains behind the Hitman series, IO Interactive’s take on the Bond legend is an original story about the spy’s early days at MI6.

The third-person action adventure game stars Patrick Gibson as 007, with the cast also featuring Priyanga Burford as M, Lenny Kravitz as Bawma The Pirate King, Alastair Mackenzie as Q, Kiera Lester as Miss Moneypenny, Noemie Nakia as Miss Roth and Lennie James as John Greenway.

Belgium DJ Dimitri Vegas is also set to make an appearance in the game, along with remixing the classic Bond theme for the game’s soundtrack.

007: First Light will arrive Wednesday 27 May on Xbox, PlayStation and PC, and on the Nintendo Switch 2 later in the year. Pre-order here.
