Liam Payne, former One Direction member, has died. He was just 31.
Payne fell to his death from a third-floor hotel balcony in Argentina as reported by TMZ. American news outlets ABC and CNN reported the police reports confirmed Payne was the man who fell from the balcony at the hotel CasaSur in the Palermo neighbourhood of Buenos Aires.
Born in Wolverhampton, England in 1993, Payne rose to fame as a member of the boy band One Direction. After passing his first audition as part of the reality show The X Factor in 2008, Payne was added to the boy band One Direction alongside Niall Horan, Harry Styles, Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik.
The quintet took the world by storm, releasing hit singles such as ‘What Makes You Beautiful’, ‘Night Changes’ and ‘Steal My Girl’ and touring the globe.
The group went on hiatus in 2016, with each member pursuing their own solo career. Payne released his debut solo record LP1, in 2019.
His most recent release was this year’s single, ‘Teardrop’.
