Singer-songwriter Kita Alexander’s hotly anticipated second album, RAGE, is finally here.
Released via Warner Music Australia, the album finds Alexander reclaiming her identity as she embraces her inner rage. Recorded live at Rockinghorse Studios in Byron Bay with acclaimed producer Chris Collins (Matt Corby, Old Mervs, Ruby Fields), RAGE was mixed by Oli Jacobs and mastered by Ruairi O'Flaherty and uses real instruments and no synths.
Alexander also collaborated with a bunch of awesome songwriters and musicians, including PJHarding (Noah Cyrus), EhrenEbbage (Lizzie McAlpine and Myles Smith), JamieScott (Major Lazer and Justin Bieber), DanBryer (Niall Horan) and longtime collaborator ShungudzoKuyimba (Teddy Swims and Little Mix).
Inspired by her personal experiences, Alexander says of the record, “Rage has been the catalyst of positive change in my life over the last couple of years. The album is about an emotion I’ve always had but never understood. It’s me looking at it and embracing it as a new friend and realising that I don’t have to shut it down or avoid looking at it. Rage has helped me find what truly matters to me and to change my life in ways that work for me.”
The focus track from the album, ‘Worth It’, was written and produced in Alexander’s Byron Bay home and has a bubbly ‘70s vibe with great use of horns. Speaking on the track, she says, “I’ve become a girl who, since the first song on this record, has acknowledged that it’s okay to not be easy and palatable. It’s okay to be difficult and kick up a stink. It’s worth opening my mouth. It’s worth saying something. The result is, if both people in the relationship are voicing their feelings then change can come, things can get better.”
