King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard Share New Single 'Alien Metal’

'Alien Metal' is the title track from the band's forthcoming EDM record.

Psych-rock turned EDM lovers King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard have shared the title track from their forthcoming 28th long player, Alien Metal.

Following the release of the album's first single 'Level 5', the ensemble's 'Alien Metal' is a pummeling techno concoction that could perfectly soundtrack the next Blade film.

Alien Metal was written and recorded using a modular synthesiser set-up, named Nathan, which King Gizzard's Stu Mackenzie said "completely rewired my brain", adding, “I was like, 'I'm going to forget everything I know about music and relearn it all from scratch'."

Continuing to discuss Alien Metal, which the band had trouble crafting, Mackenzie said in press material that "it sounds so crunchy, but also beautiful."

"Alien Metal goes really hard, but it also goes to really interesting places," adds Joey Walker. "And it feels unique – it feels like us, still."

Alien Metal follows King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard's 2025 album Phantom Island, an orchestral-inspired companion piece to 2024's Flight b741.

Unusually for King Gizzard, their live schedule is light on, with the band performing a three-night run at New York’s Forest Hills Stadium next month, followed by a special "Rave Show" in Brooklyn. They return home in October for a run of headline shows in support of Alien Metal.
