Down And Out Share New Single 'Buried Alive', Plot National Tour

Exciting times in the world of Adelaide's Down And Out, with the pop-punk purveyors not only dropping their new single 'Buried Alive' and announcing a national tour, but also signing a deal with independent label UNFD.

Speaking on the decision to sign with UNFD, frontman Luke Ganeo says, "Down And Out has just been the five of us since we began, and we've done some incredible work, but we felt as though we were hitting a natural ceiling with what we could achieve without bringing anybody into our team.

"UNFD has given us the opportunity to expand our horizons and broaden our reach both in terms of touring opportunities as well as creative. They have a bunch of sick bands like Thornhill and AVOID that we love and believe are the next generation in alternative music, so to be able to be on a label with those guys tells us that we're doing something right. We are crazy excited to see what this next chapter holds for us and hope we can make the most of this amazing opportunity."

The first taste of new music since joining UNFD is the heavy coded 'Buried Alive', a rapturous track born from a bad experience written about Ganeo's battle with insomnia, a condition he has been forced to navigate since a young child.

"Touring can have pretty brutal and demanding sleep schedules and you need to be awake or asleep at very specific times, or you'll quickly become very sleep-deprived and ruin yourself," Ganeo explains. "So that obviously makes it harder when my body hates going to sleep. But at least we managed to get this sick song out of such an annoying thing!"

Accompanying the release is a stylised music video by Josh McCawley (Lethal With A Lens), with Ganeo having this to say about the clip: "We always like to have the music video be related to the subject matter of the song and this one sort of wrote itself! Shots of me tossing and turning while I struggle to fall asleep (no acting required), shots of me being completely sleep-deprived and brain-dead at a social event (no acting required). Easy video!"

Keen to play their new song live for fans, Down And Out have announced a four-date national tour that kicks off in Adelaide at Lowlife on Saturday 31 October with support from Donni Heat. The tour continues in Brisbane at P.F.R Lounge on Friday 6 November with My Daydreams and at Sydney's Burdekin Hotel on Saturday 7 November alongside Me Neither, before the lads wrap things up at Melbourne's Nighthawks with Amberfield on Saturday 14 November.

"This will be our one and only headline tour of Australia in 2026 and we really wanted to step up the live show a notch. Obviously we're constrained by what some venues will let us do but we want to make our live shows as overstimulating as possible! We've been working hard to incorporate elements of local punk shows along with raves, coordinating lighting and background visuals when possible," the band reveals.

"Basically, we just want our live shows to be an event and an experience, something worth leaving the house for, and something you’ll be talking about for as long as possible! I hate boring things that are half-baked. We love coming up with crazy ideas, fully committing to them and seeing how far we can push them."
